Greek citizenship by adoption

According to Article 3 of the Greek Citizenship Code:

A person who was adopted as a minor (under the age of 18 ) by a Greek national becomes Greek from the day of his/her adoption.

There were no changes to this Article with the new Greek Citizenship Code that took effect in 2010, and interested parties can click the first link in ‘Related posts’ to get guidance on what papers are necessary and the citizenship process. Also be aware that all males aged 19-45 with Greek citizenship will be required to serve “Mandatory military in Greece.”
